API Limits & Queue Processing

Understand how CartCraft handles Shopify GraphQL API rate limits, background worker processing, and batch concurrency.

1. Background Queue Processing (Pg-Boss)

CartCraft runs background import jobs inside PostgreSQL using Pg-Boss:

  • No External Redis Required: Job queues run reliably inside Neon Postgres.
  • Asynchronous Jobs: Large CSV uploads and seller catalog imports process in background worker threads without timing out your browser session.

2. Shopify GraphQL Rate Limit Safeguards

Shopify enforces strict leak-bucket rate limits on GraphQL API calls (productCreate, productUpdate, productVariantsBulkCreate):

  • Automatic Throttling: CartCraft monitors remaining API bucket capacity on every request.
  • Leaky Bucket Backoff: If bucket capacity drops below threshold, the queue worker automatically pauses for 1–2 seconds before resuming.
  • Automatic Retries: If a request encounters HTTP 429 or THROTTLED errors, CartCraft retries up to 3 times automatically.

3. Plan Import Limits

Import quotas depend on your active plan:

  • FREE: 20 products/day, 50 products/month limit.
  • PRO: 50 products/day, 500 products/month limit.
  • UNLIMITED: 500 products/day, 5,000 products/month limit.
